Welcome to The Age Of Stupid. I’m Gareth Roberts, writer of books - fiction and non-fiction - TV from sitcom to soap to space opera, and now a journalist/columnist with a regular column at the Spectator’s Coffee House.
The Age Of Stupid is a place for my thoughts and reflections on politics, the personal and the public - and anything that doesn’t fit into the publications that I work for. This will be stuff that anybody can enjoy. (I have a separate Substack, The Culture Bunker, for more specialised cultural material here.)
I’ll be posting regularly - at least once a week - on various topics. My most recent book is ‘Gay Shame’, which is an examination of the rise of gender ideology - what I call genderism - and its impact on homosexual people, written from my own gay male perspective
I’ve called this place The Age of Stupid because that’s where and when we find ourselves. The identity-addled ideas formerly confined fairly safely to academia have burst their banks and contaminated the wellstream of Western discourse. I want The Age Of Stupid to be a fun refuge for people who haven’t been washed away or drunk from the poison taps. There’s more on this in my free Introduction page.
